A hole in the theatrical fabric of los angeles

I started this blog in Dec 2008, after returning from a year in London, being inspired by new theatrical work, and then finding no one source in Los Angeles that could show me where to go for new theatre or experimental dance and theatre.

The aim of this blog is to inform and in some attempt classify physical theatre, and be a resource of existing contemporary theatre practitioners of the wordk being produced in L.A and globally, as well as being an event board for new theatrical work being produced in L.A.... yes I have my work cut out for me!

It will also show puppetry and generally wierd and wonderful theatrical events in L.A, just because...

If I have left anyone out, or if there is an event you would like to feature on this board, please send your info to me...

Towards a definition of Physical Theatre...

"I think physical theatre is much more visceral and audiences are affected much more viscerally than intellectually. The foundation of theater is a live, human experience, which is different from any other form of art that I know of. Live theatre, where real human beings are standing in front of real human beings, is about the fact that we have all set aside this hour; the sharing goes in both directions. The fact that it is a very physical, visceral form makes it a very different experience from almost anything else that we partake of in our lives. I don’t think we could do it the same way if we were doing literary-based theatre."
Daniel Stein, a teacher out of the lineage of Etienne Decroux
